On February 6^th, UTChinese Magazine will be holding the 2010 New Year Concert at J. J. R. MacLeod Auditorium, University of Toronto St. George Campus. The concert features some of the most famous masterpieces from J. S. Bach, F. Liszt, F. Chopin, C. Debussy, M. Ravel, A. Vivaldi, J. Strauss, and a few other great composers.

During the two-hour concert, you will be at a delightful and penetrating music journey with our talented performers, including Ricker Choi (the founder of Music Heals!, the second prize winner at the 2009 Boston International Piano Competition as well as earlier the third prize winner at the 2008 Washington International Piano Artists Competition), Claudia Chan (the winner at the Hart House Open Concerto Competition), Yu Tang (the first prize winner and best violin performer at the 2002 China National Violin Competition, the Concertmaster of the Peking University Symphony Orchestra as well as the Assistant Concertmaster of the Toronto Youth Symphony Orchestra), and musicians from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music as well as the Hart House Orchestra (HHO). With their performance, you will dive into the fascinating air of Romantic, Impressionism and Contemporary pieces through piano and violin solo, duet, string quartet, and so on.

Being the leading organization in the Chinese community and the University, UTChinese Magazine concerns not only about the vibrant university life, but also the ever-changing global situation and our motherland. UTChinese Magazine will donate net proceeds of the concert to:

• UNICEF Canada, to support the health and safety of the children in Haiti after the recent earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince and other densely populated areas. UNICEF has been in Haiti for over 60 years, and their expertise will help save lives. Moreover, Government of Canada will be matching our donations, and every dollar will be doubled!
• Love Through Education International, to support the education of the children in the poverty-stricken areas in China. Your generous contribution will allow those children to return to school.
